The guiding principle form this collage on vintage vinyl comes from Hipgnosis and Storm Thorgerson. Hipgnosis had a rule—no band photos unless necessary. I followed that rule in honor of Thorgerson, whose work made Pink Floyd a visual experience as much as a musical one.
Prisms and spectrums from The Dark Side of the Moon are placed in a broken landscape. The hallucinogenic eye in the sky reflects Roger Water’s themes of being watched vs. being understood. The Wall along the horizon presents the emotional isolation and psychological barriers between “self” and “world” that the band often expressed in their music.
When you see the visuals you can practically hear Richard Wright’s Kurzweil synthesizer, David Gilmour’s Electric Mistress flanger, and Clare Torry’s improvised, wordless vocal performance on "The Great Gig in the Sky.
And, when you listen to Floyd with, you can’t help but see the visuals behind closed eyes.
