“The Reverie of Lavina Bluff” by Rick Midler

Lavina met a devilish lad in the park one day—a boy whom destiny told her would be the love of her life. They skipped into the depths of the wood, where they found a lush green hill and rolled down laughing, collaborating on future plans as her simple yellow gown became a gentle, rolling tide.

A game had the boy hiding in the trees. The hill was her home base. His tricksy giggle danced from behind one tree, then another, then another—but never saw him. She remained on the hilltop, looking from tree to surrounding tree, until the laughter slowly faded. Some claim Lavina became part of the landscape.

Now, travelers who pass this way might see a gentle, rolling yellow cloud atop that soft, mossy hill and feel compelled to barrel down, laughing and dreaming about future plans.
